Willy Wonka said it best: "There is no life I know to compare with pure imagination."
Within the many, many pages of this site are places that are just as much home to me as any other. They are the places where my mind retreats to at every opportunity and in their way, they're every bit as real as anywhere I've ever been.
Focus has always been a challenge for me--odd, I know--you'd think a creative perfectionist with a touch of OCD and a stubborn streak would have nothing but focus. Okay, I can hear my wife laughing at a touch of OCD and everyone I know agreeing with the stubborn streak, but I am who I am. If you're wondering why a focused challenged writer would take on the task of creating a website, you missed the site name, cause I'm always Writing Distracted. Like many writers, publishing is not about making money (though that would be nice), it's about having other people read and enjoy something I've written. It's just that simple. In the past several decades I've written a couple of novels and a bunch of short stories, created a pen and paper RPG system, adapted it for Fantasy, Sci-Fi, and Superhero settings, written numerous world and setting supplements, and have told literally thousands of stories at the gaming table. With so many stories in my head I have no intention of slowing down, but when it comes down to it, it's all a little empty if no one ever reads any of it.
I've heard that described as both the curse and joy of being a writer.
As my wife likes to say, "No matter what happens, Chuck is going to be Chuck." I may have to put on a suit and tie to go to work, but that doesn't stop me from donning my Boba Fett backpack for the ride into DC. I don't let anything stop me from being me and I write about the things I enjoy.
So what are you going to find here? Nicely filed and categorized sections belying the chaos of their creation, filled with lots of different stories. I would not be so arrogant as to claim that all of it's good and it's possible you might not like any of it, but hopefully you can find something entertaining that lets you climb in and escape to another place...if only for a little while.
Welcome to my mind, excuse the mess, and enjoy your stay, just don't get lost, I have no idea what might be running around in here.
